The 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment (2-2 IN), known as “Ramrods,” was activated in 1901 during the Philippine Insurrection. The unit has fought in major conflicts including World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. It is currently assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, and stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas.
