The U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (SWCS) was established in 1952 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to train Soldiers in unconventional warfare. It was later named after President John F. Kennedy in recognition of his strong support for Special Forces. Over the decades, SWCS has become the Army’s premier institution for developing Special Forces, Civil Affairs, and Psychological Operations Soldiers. Its mission is to recruit, assess, train, and educate these elite warriors, ensuring they are prepared to conduct special operations worldwide in support of U.S. national security objectives.
