The Navajo Code Talkers were Native American Marines who served during World War II, using their language to create an unbreakable code. Recruited beginning in 1942, these men developed a system based on the Navajo language to securely transmit vital military communications in the Pacific Theater. Their code proved impossible for Japanese forces to decipher, allowing U.S. troops to coordinate operations quickly and safely. The Code Talkers’ contributions were critical to American victories, and they are remembered as heroes who used their culture and language to protect their country.
