The 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines (2/11) was activated in 1918 as an artillery unit of the U.S. Marine Corps and has provided fire support in major conflicts including World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, Operations Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. Equipped primarily with M777 howitzers, the battalion has played a critical role in supporting Marine infantry operations with precise and sustained artillery fire. Over the decades, 2/11 has deployed worldwide, adapting to both traditional and expeditionary missions. Today, it is based at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, as part of the 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
