The 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment served as a reconnaissance and security squadron within the 101st Airborne Division, providing armored and aerial cavalry capabilities. Known as the “War Rakkasans,” the unit traced its lineage to World War II and deployed in conflicts including Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The squadron specialized in reconnaissance, screening, and security operations in support of air assault forces. In March 2025, 1-33 Cavalry was officially deactivated as part of the Army’s force structure changes. They don't suck ...do they?
