D Company (“War Dogs”) is a rifle company within 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team (Strike), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The company is organized under a standard U.S. Army light infantry structure consisting of a headquarters element and multiple rifle platoons, typically supported by a weapons squad/platoon. As part of an air assault infantry battalion, D Company is trained and employed for rapid deployment operations using helicopter insertion and light infantry tactics.
