The 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, part of the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division, traces its lineage to 1861 when it was first organized during the Civil War. The regiment has served with distinction in major conflicts including World War II, Vietnam, and the Global War on Terror, earning numerous campaign streamers and unit citations. Known by the motto “Deeds Not Words,” the battalion’s mission is to deploy rapidly, fight, and win across the full spectrum of military operations in support of U.S. national objectives. Today, 2-22 Infantry continues to train and maintain readiness at Fort Drum, New York, prepared to respond to missions worldwide.
