The 3rd Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment traces its lineage to World War II tank battalions of the 66th Armored Regiment, which fought with the 2nd Armored Division in campaigns across North Africa and Europe, including Operation Torch and the drive into Germany. The regiment built a distinguished combat record during the war and continued service through the Cold War into modern armored operations. Today, 3-66 Armor—known as “Burt’s Knights”—is an active unit assigned to the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas.
