Black Lions. 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment was organized in 1901 for the Philippine-American War and spent the next 122 years building one of the most decorated combat records in the U.S. Army. They assaulted Omaha Beach on D-Day with the 1st Infantry Division, bled through Vietnam in some of the war's hardest fighting, and answered the call again in Iraq and Afghanistan before the colors were cased in 2023. The Black Lions are gone — but the soldiers who served under that name are not. Carry it forward.
