The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment was born after the failed Desert One rescue attempt in Iran, built around aviators trained to fly low, fast, and at night. 3rd Battalion operates from Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia, flying MH-47 Chinook heavy assault helicopters and MH-60 Black Hawks in support of the nation’s special operations forces. The regiment has been in continuous combat since October 2001. If you flew, wrenched, or supported 3-160th, this one’s yours.
