The 37th Engineer Battalion aka Eagle Battalion traces its origins to 1918, when it was organized for service in World War I and later restructured as a combat engineer unit supporting U.S. Army operations. The battalion served in major conflicts including World War II, the Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan, where it provided critical mobility, counter-mobility, and survivability support, often alongside airborne forces. Assigned for much of its recent history to the 82nd Airborne Division, the battalion was officially deactivated on 16 October 2024 as part of Army force restructuring.
