The 158th Infantry Regiment, known as the “Bushmasters,” is an Arizona Army National Guard infantry regiment that traces its origins to the Arizona Volunteer Infantry organized in 1865. The regiment was redesignated as the 158th Infantry in 1917, deployed to France during World War I, and later fought in the Pacific during World War II. The unit is associated with the motto “Cuidado,” meaning “Take Care,” and its modern lineage includes the 1st Battalion, 158th Infantry Regiment in the Arizona Army National Guard.
