Strike, Destroy. The 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division was activated in 2007 as the Army’s seventh Stryker brigade. In summer 2009 it became the first Stryker unit deployed to Afghanistan, fighting through Kandahar and Helmand during the surge.
