The U.S. Marine Corps’ Combat Instructor School at School of Infantry-East trains Marines selected to serve as Combat Instructors responsible for teaching, coaching, and mentoring infantry and non-infantry Marines in core combat skills, tactics, and leadership. The school is located aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, specifically at Camp Geiger in North Carolina, where SOI-East conducts entry-level and advanced infantry training. Combat Instructors play a critical role in shaping Marines during initial training, ensuring they meet the Corps’ combat readiness standards. The Combat Instructor Course was formally established in 2003 as part of the Marine Corps’ effort to professionalize and standardize combat instruction across the force.
