The 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, is an airborne infantry unit assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade. It traces its lineage to World War II and is best known for combat operations in the Pacific, including the parachute assault on Corregidor in 1945. The battalion has since conducted operations in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan as part of U.S. Army rapid deployment forces.
