The 407th Forward Support Battalion, established in 1917, has long provided logistics, maintenance, and medical sustainment to the 2nd Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. Redesignated as a forward support battalion in 1993, it remains the brigade’s critical sustainment lifeline. In 2016–2017, the 407th deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, running key logistics operations at Qayyarah West Airfield. The unit continues to stand ready to support global contingency operations.
