The 462nd Parachute Field Artillery Battalion was activated in 1943 as an airborne artillery unit of the U.S. Army during World War II. It was assigned to support the 503d Parachute Infantry Regiment, providing indirect fire support in airborne operations. The battalion deployed to the Pacific Theater, where it participated in operations in New Guinea, Noemfoor, and the Philippines. During the Corregidor operation in February 1945, the 462nd PFAB delivered critical artillery support to the 503d Infantry, contributing to the successful recapture of the island.
