The 2nd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment — the Rakkasan Raiders — was a proud element of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Tracing its lineage to the storied 187th Regimental Combat Team, the Raiders earned distinction through fierce combat in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Though deactivated in 2005 during the Army’s modular transformation, the Raider legacy endures as a symbol of courage, discipline, and the unyielding Rakkasan spirit.
