The 367th Infantry Regiment, part of the 93rd Infantry Division, was a significant African American combat unit in the United States Army during World War I and World War II. Established during World War I, the regiment saw action in France and was known for its bravery and effectiveness in combat. During World War II, the 367th was reactivated and served in the Pacific Theater, participating in campaigns in areas like New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. As a segregated unit, the 367th Infantry Regiment played a crucial role in demonstrating the capabilities and valor of African American soldiers during a period when the U.S. military was still racially segregated.
