The Navy's Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) were elite special operations units established during World War II to conduct reconnaissance, demolitions, and amphibious assaults. These highly trained frogmen specialized in clearing beach obstacles, gathering intelligence, and preparing the way for larger amphibious landings. Their expertise in underwater demolition laid the foundation for the creation of the modern Navy SEALs in 1962. Although the UDT was officially disbanded, its legacy lives on in today's special warfare community.
