The 3rd Battalion, 10th Marines (3-10 Marines), was an artillery unit of the United States Marine Corps with a proud history rooted in artillery excellence. Established in 1943, the battalion played a critical role in World War II, providing fire support during key battles in the Pacific Theater. The nickname "Seven for One" originates from the Battle of Saipan in which a Japanese general told his men to kill seven Americans each before dying. When the battle was over 3-10 had stacked over 300 Japanese bodies and the nickname stuck. The battalion was deactivated in April 2013.
