The 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines (2/9) was an infantry battalion in the United States Marine Corps. Formed at Quantico, VA in 1917, the battalion has fought in battles from WWII to epic battles at Khe Sanh, operations in Somalia and Operation Iraqi Freedom. 2/9 was deactivated in 2015 at Camp Lejeune, NC.
