17th Field Artillery Brigade. Thunderbolt!
The 17th Field Artillery Brigade, part of the U.S. Army, began at Camp Bowie, Texas in 1918 and was demobilized after WWI. Reactivated in 1943, it served in Europe during WWII, notably in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. It was reactivated in 1951, underwent redesignation, and served in Iraq in the 2000s. In 2014, it was renamed the 17th Field Artillery Brigade, serving under the 7th Infantry Division at JBLM.
