The 5th Ranger Training Battalion is a critical component of the U.S. Army’s elite Ranger School, responsible for the Mountain Phase of training. Located at Camp Frank D. Merrill near Dahlonega, Georgia, the battalion prepares soldiers to lead under the most physically and mentally demanding conditions in rugged, mountainous terrain. Through intense field exercises and leadership evaluations, the 5th RTB hones the skills required for small-unit tactics, endurance, and decision-making under pressure.
