The name alone carries the weight of one of the most brutal battles in American military history — November and December 1950, when the 32nd Infantry Regiment fought alongside Marines in temperatures that dropped to -35°F at the Chosin Reservoir, surrounded and outnumbered, and broke through Chinese lines to reach the sea. The 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment carries that legacy today as part of the 10th Mountain Division — a unit that knows something about fighting in cold, unforgiving terrain.
