97th Engineers-T-shirt

Digitally reproduced WW2 era unofficial patch of the 97th Engineer Battalion. The 97th Engineer Battalion (Separate) helped prove that large-scale military engineering—not just combat—wins wars, building and sustaining critical infrastructure from Alaska to Europe during World War I. Decades later, that legacy was echoed by African American engineer units, including the 97th Engineer Battalion, who carved the Alcan Highway out of wilderness during World War II. Working under extreme cold, isolation, and discrimination, these soldiers built roads and railways that reshaped North American defense and development. Together, their stories represent the often-overlooked engineers whose labor connected continents and changed history.
