301st Fighter Squadron Hat

The 301st Fighter Squadron was activated in 1942 as one of the original units of the famed Tuskegee Airmen, the first African American fighter pilots in the U.S. Army Air Forces. Flying P-39s, P-40s, and later P-51 Mustangs, the squadron distinguished itself in combat during World War II, escorting bombers and engaging enemy aircraft over Europe and the Mediterranean. After the war, the unit was deactivated but later reconstituted in the Air Force Reserve, continuing its proud legacy.
