The 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines (3/2) is an infantry battalion in the United States Marine Corps with a storied history dating back to its activation on May 1, 1942, during World War II. Known as "Betio Bastards" in honor of their heroic contributions in the Battle of Tarawa, 3/2 has since participated in numerous significant conflicts, including the Korean War, Operation Desert Storm, and the Global War on Terrorism. The unit is part of the 2nd Marine Regiment and is based at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. From their home at Camp Lejeune, 3/2 continues to prepare for global deployment, maintaining readiness for expeditionary and amphibious operations.
