The 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines (3/25) was activated during World War II in 1943 and fought valiantly in the Pacific Theater, most notably in the Battle of Iwo Jima. After the war, the battalion was deactivated but later reactivated as part of the Marine Corps Reserve. Over the decades, 3/25 has participated in numerous training exercises and deployments, including peacekeeping operations and global conflicts. In 2005, during Operation Iraqi Freedom, the battalion suffered significant casualties, highlighting the continued sacrifice of Marine reservists in modern warfare.
